My mum found me a baby snail :) It measures about 3mm and doesn't have a name. I don't want to give it a name, because I like treating animals as they are. I hate attributing human characteristics to animals. It's just not right. No wonder I never took a liking to Disney characters.. and always feel slightly alarmed when people become overprotective of their toys. I should like to think that human beings are vastly different from animals. God created us to be so. I also think we have no business thinking animals are not unique enough to possess characteristics that humans don't.. so that we may find our personalities embodied in a ferocious tiger, a stubborn bull, a cheeky monkey. That we can impose our standards upon them is no more than a self-centered notion. Animals are unique in their own right. And so are we. So draw a clear sharp line down the middle and leave it at that.
And remember, nature is
nature. Not 'Mother Nature'.
Grr. I don't know why I suddenly feel so irritated.
Must be the books.
go to, then; your considerate stone.
